There are few words in my life that can explain how I feel about concerts and music. This song, however, explains so much of it. I'm just one of those people that is always stuck in my head, over-thinking and living with a weight on my shoulders, that I put there. But when music hits me, it's freeing.  And at a concert when you're with people you've never met but you're all suddenly together, friends in spirit, and the world is just magical and perfect for a moment.... you can just be yourself and be free. nothing weighs you down.
this song reminds me of that.
I truly hope that no matter what makes you feel free inside, that you can always find a way to find that thing and keep it.

ooh ahh! Beauty on a Budget

Hey guys!


I don't know if you're like me at all.... but I'm a LITTLE addicted to makeup and beauty products. If I had my way (and the money) this blog would be nothing but telling you about awesome new make up products, with a hint of electronics and nerdy stuff too. haha

But since I'm on a tight budget, I'll try to help you out! And let you know a few things I've found that work well for me, and maybe they will work for you too!!!


#1 Wet and Wild Intuitive Blend -- $3

Now I bought this foundation, because I can never find a foundation that covers yet doesn't leave me feeling greasy.. or too dry. I have oily skin, so i do NOT need any help with oils and things that soak up too fast. My skin is like a sponge, it's quite annoying. Now this foundation is good.... IF you have oily or dry skin. It goes on and smells and feels like a moisturizer. It has these little beads that pop and match your skin tone. Now I got the light shade.. and it was a tiniest bit too light.  My main complaint on it, is that it doesn't really cover.  If you are just having a day when you want a little smoothing, it's great for that. But not for blemishes! However Wet and Wild makes a concealer stick that actually works well!!!! I believe i bought the concealer for $1 !!!!

#2 L.A. Colors eyeshadow palettes -- $1 

Oh how I adore the colors that LA Colors uses. I have like 5 of these palettes I believe!! They are So much fun to play with!!!! I especially love the bright pink and purples.  Now like I said, these are a $1 at Dollar general where I buy them.  And like I said.. oily skin, soaks up everything. BUT if you use an eyeshadow primer or a liquid cream colored shadow underneath, voila! Colors all day!!!!! :) You just have to play with what you got. I've got a great liquid eyeshadow next...

#3 Hard Candy Eye Def-- $6

Ahhh the love of my life!! happened to buy this at wal-mart once... and I don't know how I lived without it!!! In this exact shade too!!!! Called "What Sandy Says Goes" hahahahah what a silly name!!! But I'm telling you, it's got this little glitter bits in it.. sparkles. Makes your eyes pop open! I get compliments anytime I wear it. Seriously. I can't imagine it looks bad on anyone!! And they have tons of shades... just picked up a few more this weekend :) 

Now like I said, if you get those cheap LA Colors eyeshadows for fun colors.. put this on first, let it dry.. and then put all the color you want on it! It will stay ALL day. I promise!!!! No streaks. No smudging. I love it. I could go on.... but  I won't!!!!

#4 Cover Girl Professional Super Thick Lash-- $4-8 

Now I was at a store in town... happened to stumble upon this on sale for $4... and I think you can never have enough mascara.. so grabbed it up. And I'm GLAD I did. I'm usually the kind of girl that uses a volumizing mascara and a lengthening mascara too . I've never had a lot of luck on ones that are supposed to do both.  Like normally I've been using Lash Stiletto, which is GREAT for length. But I added this one and it really helps plump up those babies!!! I'm quite enjoying it!! I love a random find like that! 

Well there we go. Some beauty on a budget!!!! I hope those help you out for today!!!!! but Seriously.... go get some of that Hard Candy.... just do it! I should be their spokesperson.. HIRE ME!!! HIReEEE MEEEEE!!! hahahhhahaahah!!!

So i'm just sitting here posting some of my old pics to pinterest when i was like.. hmm i haven't blogged in a few days...... so i'll share some here too!!!!!

I've been a little pouty about my camera lately. It broke about 2 years ago when i was taking a picture o a lightning bug on my car. The shutter won't open, and i'm sure it's fixable... but I just haven't had the finances to fix it. It was a Canon DSLR Rebel Xti... I miss it. I still have it... but i just miss using it all the time.

As you can see why I miss it so much now... Oh it was the perfect camera. Worth every cent!!!

I was watching "the Voice' and my favorite team this season is Ceelo's... he has some AMAZING singers on there. song 2:  "I Smile" -- another great song.  If you're having a bad day, listen to it.  The hardest thing to do when you're upset is smile. but sometimes its the most important thing we have to do.  Our minds are constantly beating us with negative thoughts, worry and doubts.  We have to force ourselves to think about different stuff.  So listen to this and smile.

I get so passionate about artists that make these AMAZING songs and the world doesn't get to hear them.  It is an injustice that I can't stand for!!! I will never stand for!!!!!!!! Ever!!

So i'm sitting here jamming. Nothing new, really!! Except the fact that my neck is hurting, so I keep resting my head to relax it.. .and then popping up to share a song with a friend! HAHAHA not helping me relax my painful neck here, self....

But then it got me thinking..... maybe I should start doing that for people.  Tell me what's going on in your life.  What kind of music you like.. And I will try to pick a song for you that you can relate to.
because i KNOW for me, music helps say the things I can't say outloud. And better. And that always helps me cope with my problems.

Hey. had the day off so i spent it watching the voice and some movies from redbox. well i got "A thousand words". it has eddie murphy, who i adore, and it was pretty funny. but the thing is.... TOUCHING.
totally had me tearing up a bit at the end. didn't expect that. really makes you think. I definitely suggest it.

So I've been a fan of the Voice since it came out pretty much!! Well I was catching up on the new season on hulu... and this guy gets up, starts talking about his life and such. I was only half paying attention at the time... he sang. I liked him, but he didn't get any button pushes. I would've hit mine... and then they ask his name... "Jeffrey James' andi go..... I KNOW THAT GUY!!!!

Not well.. but I've been following him on twitter for like 2 years. I remember listening to his demos a few years ago.  He's really grown musically! He has a lot of potential for sure. I think if he came back to the show in a year, he'd make it for sure.

But I wanted to tell you, so you could check him out!!!!!!!

And plus, if bands start following you on twitter (gosh i think a GOOD chunk of my followers are musicians/bands on there) check them out. You never know what you're missing!!!!

hey! I just heard this song on an episode of Criminal Minds (one of my favorite shows) and I went straight to Yahoo and found out who sang it. So stunning!!!!
Reminds me of a young Joe Cocker.  That rasp to his voice, but its soft and sweet. Full of soul and blues. ooh.. one of my weaknesses

Battle Born (in depth review)

Hey guys!

Well one thing I will do from time to time is review a cd for you. Incase you were wondering if it was worth the hype AND your money!!!!
And since I'm on a Killers kick... I decided to do their new album Battle Born!! :)

Gonna take it song by song. It's how I do.
So it's long.... take your time and read it all. So all my finger's time and hard work aren't wasted!!!

1. ‘Flesh and Bone’  --- a great album opener.  Starts with a beep reminiscent of a heart monitor.  Lots of Keys, drums, guitars, bass!! Some great lines in the song too.  Lyrics are important to me.  "What are you afraid of? And what are you made of?  Flesh and bone."  Overall a fun song. Good message about humanity and fighting for what you want.

2. ‘Runaways’ -- the first single off the album. Very radio friendly! Very much The Killers. If you are a fan of them, you will know exactly what I mean!! It also sounds like it could have fit on Brandon Flowers' solo album "Flamingo" (which hopefully you went out and got it after my blog........)  GREAT drums in this song. Has a great marching beat to it. Can't help but tap your feet to it.  A great love song about how they meet and runaway together.... but sometimes they just wanna runaway from each other. haha You know, reality. 

   

3. ‘The Way It Was’  -- This is a great song.  A bit more mellow than the previous.  A song about love that is lost or on the way to lost.... and he just wants that passion back. It reminds me of something from the 50's or 60's, but I can't place my finger on it... Just an overall good listen. 

4. ‘Here With Me’ --  Oh, this song!!!! The first time I heard it on the itunes preview.... I was flabbergasted!!!! This song is BEAUTIFUL! The melody, the vocals, the strings. The lyrics... everything! One of those songs that you hear and you're just like "perfect. wouldn't change a thing". Yep. this one!!

 From the beautiful piano intro to the chorus  "I don't want your picture on my cell phone. I want you here with me. I don't want your memories in my head. No, I want you here with me"   So relatable to me and I'm sure to anyone who loved someone that wasn't around, no matter what the reason. Brings tears to my eyes almost every time.. and my best friend as well!! (and she isn't a cryer). Seriously find a way to hear this song. It's a MUST.  (re listening right now.. and i got MASSIVE chills all over. amazing. So heartfelt) 

5. ‘A Matter of Time’ -- starts out with some fun little synthesizers and rolls into a fantastic drum beat. Oh, that Ronnie knows how to drum.  This song is FUN to sing along to. "whoaa ohhh ohhhh" little part. Really FUN!! The chorus falls flat after that great hook on the "whoa's".  But overall its a good song. Definitely a good one to jam to loud with the windows down in your car. 

6. ‘Deadlines and Commitments’--this song has an interesting "asian" feel to it. Some nice pounding drums. This is actually a fan favorite I've seen from the comments on Get Glue .  It has some great lines. All about helping someone out that needs it.  "if you should fall on hard times. If you should lose your way, there is a place here in this house, that you can stay".  It's a song I can see a lot of people saying it was weird... and they'd never listen to it again. But if you learn NOTHING from me... know this. The Killers are amazing for the fact that you can listen to a song, not like it, listen to it again and love it.  Some songs ARE very different from things you hear on radios and other albums. It's their gift. Give it a try.  Some of my favorite songs, from any band, are songs that I might not have loved first listen but it grew on me. ( I'd say that with some loves and friendships in real life as well. Gotta get to know the personality. Yes, I think songs have personalities!!) 

7. ‘Miss Atomic Bomb’-- Another little fan favorite. They played it live on the Amex Unstaged stream last night. Good live, good on album.  This song is full of synthesizers and keyboards. Brandon knows how to play those well!! :) Another love song. He said he got the idea for the title since Nevada did so much bomb testing back in the day. It's a cute little song. It's hard to explain. You don't know what it is, you just like it. It's probably the drums though. haha I love drums. Or maybe it's his soulful vocals? probably that too! 

8. ‘The Rising Tide’ -- Ok, I don't know why.. but I keep forgetting what this song SOUNDS like every time I hear it. haha And its a good song, so I'm not sure why that is..... ???? It's fun. Uptempo little ditty.  Very Killers-ish. If you own Day and Age, Hot Fuss, Sam's Town, or Sawdust you'll know what I mean.  It has a good melody, good musicianship, good hooks. But for some reason, at least me, its not memorable. Oh Self... I worry about you!!! 

9. ‘Heart of a Girl’-- Love this song!! A lovely ballad. He is singing it as a dad whose daughter is wanting advice for something. "Baby, baby, baby I got all night to listen to  heart of a girl".  What a great message. As so many men out there forget to respect the women of their lives.  I was raised by a good Daddy and I'm glad others have good dads as well.  

Musically though, another stunner here.  The guitar... the  bass... the everything! Has a feel very nostalgic from the 70s. Which I love. Seriously, a MUST listen. Touches my heart... made me wanna cry. ooh goosebumps again. seriously.  SERIOUSLY! MAGIC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

10. ‘From Here on Out’--  Ok this song!!!!! One of my favorites! If you have never heard of a band called The Travelling Willbury's, you might wanna check them out. and if you have heard of them, this song will remind you of them! Has a great 70's classic rock/pop feel to it. Just makes you wanna dance all over the place! Ooh I've been jamming to it in my car. 

11. ‘Be Still’--  another stunner and perfect song. The lyrics in this song are beyond amazing. I could seriously type the entire song, because its perfect. Great keyboard, great vocals. Just chill inducing, goosebump making. "when they knock you down, don't break character, you've got a lot of heart."  love it.  "rise up like the sun. labor until the work is done. be still ".   Fantastic. It has this amazing drum beat in it, that reminds me of a love song from the 80's.. (i think Lady in Red... don't quote me on that...) Another song that almost brings me to tears. If you are having a bad day and just wanna curl up in your blankies and hear an amazing song that will help you see you have something to fight for, this is one. 

12. ‘Battle Born’-- I would say this is my favorite track. Mainly because I listen to it and I HAVE to put it on repeat. It's big. It's full of drums and guitars and vocals. A bit of this choir sound...(not sure if it's an actual choir, but I DREAM it is!!!!) Another song FULL of amazing lyrics about fighting for what you believe in. Fighting for everything. Life is so easy to just sit back and forget that not everyone gets to come along for the ride.  I know personally, I need reminders of that. Because I get so complacent. This song reminds me. I appreciate that.  

"Up against the wall. There is something dying on the street. When they knock you down. You're gonna get back on your feet. No, You can't stop now...... You was battle born" 

This song ALWAYS gives me chills. Seriously. I get my arms in the air! It's like church for me. I just hear the spirituality in it. SPEAKS to me. 100% get this song. You won't regret it!!!!!!!!! This track deserves the album title. Amazing.

13. ‘Carry Me Home’-- another good song. Has such an interesting feel with the synthesizers and drums. Like it's just out of another decade or something. It's a good song... the chorus kind of falls flat for me again. The verses are stronger melodically.  More toe tapping and funner to sing.  It's always weird when songs do that.  Overall not a bad song, but it's not my favorite. But that is today.. call me in a week. haha! 

14. ‘Flesh And Bone (Jacques lu Cont Remix)’-- fact... i usually NEVER listen to remixes. I don't like remixes. It takes out the heart and soul of things.. but since I've done the rest of the album... I will listen to it thoroughly and let you know.. here we go!! 

Ok. starts out ok, sounds like they just added an extra electronica track... and then it changes... and the main guitar riff is just drown out. The singing come on... i'm cringing a bit!!! hahahaha sorry.. dancefloor music is just not for me. The kids will love it...... well the kids at a rave. I will say, I've heard WORSE remixes..... but I've heard better. You decide.

15. ‘Prize Fighter’-- This song... Oh there's always one... that I don't love. This is it. There's nothing wrong with it.... I just find it boring. A song about how he falls for a girl who is out of his league and he wants to win her over.  It's a cute idea..... just falls flat for me. It has this weird synth line that kinda randomly makes this rocking back and forth rhythm, not a fan. Ya. In my opinion, get the regular version of the cd! hahaha Sometimes bonus tracks are a million times better and sometimes they fall flat. It happens.  Maybe its the cheesy horns.... or the weird piano. Eh. not my favorite....

Honestly, the main thing I tell all my friends when I am BEGGING them to buy this album, is that it is pure magic. There is SO much fluff out there with no meaning, no heart, no soul out there. Just pounding into our minds and bodies from radio and tv, and into the kids. I love an album that has substance and heart. And sou! So when comes along and speaks to me, the first thing I want to do is shout it from the rooftops, so that way everyone knows and can share the same feeling!!!!

Hey guys!

Sorry I haven't posted in a few days. Been so busy working!!!! Started working a second job today so I'm not gonna get a lot of free time. But i'm trying!!!!!! :)

Well tonight my sister Kelsey and I decided to go to the store to get something and she could do something for her blog.  While I'm outside waitin for her, I see this CUTEST little flower and go grab the camera in my car to take a shot of it.
Because it's what I do!!! Photography is a hobby of mine, but it's been slacking since my beautiful professional camera, Canon DSLR Rebel Xti, messed up and is now unusable.  :( But i have a little point and shoot Canon I use for now. (seeing a trend? haha i'm a Canon girl!!)
Well I decided to share!
